the study of Mathematics, students work towards the following goals: |

and competently deal with every day life, employment, interests
and further study |

be able to interpret and communicate quantitative and logical ideas
accurately |

recognize the fundamental importance of mathematics to the functioning

understand and appreciate the nature of mathematical thinking, the
processes by which mathematics changes and its cultural role |

understand the dynamic role of mathematics in social and technological
change |

To
use technology appropriately and effectively to support the learning
of mathematics and in carrying out mathematical activities in context |

| Students
at each year level learn mathematics through the mastery of several
components: |

Knowing mathematical facts such as the multiplication tables, the
distributive law or the meaning of the word polygon |
 |
Being
able to carry out mathematical procedures such as adding numbers
or drawing a graph |
 |
Being
able to use mathematics in solving problems and describing and understanding
the world |
 |
Teaching
and Learning strategies include problem solving and assignment work,
practical activities, demonstrations, investigations, modelling
themes, facts and skills, tests and group work via discussions |
